Complete a Room Inspection (MOP)

Room inspections are a critical part of hotel operations and quality assurance. They help ensure guest rooms are clean, safe, well-maintained, and ready for occupancy. By identifying housekeeping and maintenance issues before a guest arrives, room inspections help:
  1. Improve guest satisfaction
  2. Maintain quality standards
  3. Identify maintenance concerns early
  4. Ensure compliance with property procedures
  5. Protect the property's reputation
MOP's Room Inspection feature provides a structured inspection process covering more than 45 quality checkpoints throughout the guest room.

Complete a Room Inspection

1. Add a Room Inspection - Click Add Room Inspect.

2. Select the Room - Choose the room number that will be inspected.

3. Review Inspector Information - The system automatically displays:
  1. The most recent Room Attendant who cleaned the room
  2. The currently logged-in user performing the inspection
This information is recorded with the inspection results.

4.  Complete the Inspection Checklist - The inspection includes more than 45 inspection points covering room cleanliness, condition, and functionality.
Inspection results are scored as follows:
  1. 0 to 3 issues: Excellent
  2. 4 to 6 issues: Pass
  3. 7 + issues: Fail

5.  Understand Auto-Fail Conditions - Certain issues automatically fail the inspection regardless of the total score. Examples include:
  1. Dirty toilet
  2. Hair in the room
  3. Mold
  4. Unpleasant odors
  5. Stained bedding
  6. Poorly cleaned areas
  7. Evidence of a previous guest stay
  8. Non-working TV
  9. Air conditioning issues
  10. Water leaks
  11. Other non-functioning equipment
These conditions ensure rooms meet guest-ready standards before being released for occupancy.

6. Record Housekeeping and Maintenance Issues - If an issue is identified during the inspection, select the appropriate checkbox:
  1. Hskp – Housekeeping issue
  2. Maint – Maintenance issue
This categorizes the issue correctly for follow-up and resolution.

7.  Create Maintenance Work Orders When Needed - If a Maint box is selected, MOP automatically prompts the inspector to create a maintenance work order. Select:
  1. Maintenance Priority
  2. Maintenance Level
Then click Submit.
The maintenance request will be created and can be assigned by a Site Admin for resolution.

8. Submit the Inspection - After completing all inspection items, click Submit.

9. Create the Follow-Up Cleaning Task - After submitting the inspection, MOP prompts the creation of a new cleaning task. This occurs regardless of the inspection result, including rooms rated Excellent. This process helps ensure rooms continue to meet quality standards and allows any identified concerns to be addressed promptly.

10. Review Automatically Generated Notes - Any housekeeping issues identified during the inspection are automatically added to the task's Notes field. This provides:
  1. Clear documentation of issues found
  2. Guidance for the Room Attendant
  3. A record of required corrective actions
Create the task and click Save.
