Most tasks in MOP are simple and easy to understand based on the task name alone. However, some Housekeeping and Maintenance tasks include built-in checklists to help employees complete all required steps according to property standards and procedures. One example is the Disinfect/Clean housekeeping task, which includes a structured checklist that guides the Room Attendant through the cleaning and disinfecting process.
Why the Checklist Is Important
The checklist helps ensure:
- Cleaning procedures are completed consistently
- Required disinfecting steps are not missed
- Property standards are followed
- Supervisors can verify task completion more accurately
For checklist-based tasks, every checklist item must be completed before the task can be marked as finished.
If any checklist items are incomplete, the Finish button will not appear.
Disinfect/Clean Checklist Sections
The Disinfect/Clean task is divided into four sections.
1. Prepare - This section contains 6 checklist steps related to preparing the room and cleaning supplies before beginning the disinfecting process.
2. Disinfect the Whole Room in a Circle - This section contains 10 checklist steps focused on disinfecting the guest room in a consistent circular workflow. This helps ensure:
- No areas are skipped
- Cleaning is completed systematically
- High-touch surfaces are disinfected properly
3. Disinfect the Bathroom - This section contains 6 checklist steps dedicated to cleaning and disinfecting the bathroom area.
4. Finish Room - This final section contains 2 checklist steps related to completing and finalizing the room before marking the task as finished.
Completing the Checklist
As each step is completed:
- Mark the checklist item accordingly
- Continue through all required sections
- Ensure every item is checked before attempting to finish the task
Once all checklist items are completed, the Finish button will become available.
Using the Notes Field with Checklist Tasks
Although the checklist itself cannot currently be customized, the Notes field can still be used to provide:
- Additional instructions
- Special cleaning requests
- Room-specific concerns
- Important updates for supervisors or management
Example
“Guest requested extra disinfecting of bathroom surfaces and remote controls.”
- Checklist items must be completed to finish the task
- The checklist itself cannot currently be customized
- The Notes field can be used to add supplemental instructions or updates
- Incomplete checklist items prevent task completion
