How are rooms marked as dirty in Visual Matrix?
Rooms in Visual Matrix can be automatically or manually marked as dirty in the following ways:
- During Night Audit: As part of the night audit process, Visual Matrix automatically marks all in-house rooms as dirty.
- When a guest changes rooms: When a guest is moved to a different room, Visual Matrix prompts staff to mark the original room as dirty.
- When a discrepancy is reported: Housekeeping can mark a room as dirty when reporting a discrepancy between front desk and housekeeping records.
- At check-out: Rooms can be marked as dirty at check-out if this option is enabled in the housekeeping setup.
What happens if a room is not assigned for cleaning on a particular day? Will the cleaning schedule shift to the next day, or follow the established cleaning sequence?
If a room is not assigned for cleaning on a given day, the cleaning schedule will not automatically shift to the next day. Instead, it will move to the next scheduled cleaning type in the sequence. For example, if the room is set for "Change" every two days and "Make" on alternate days, skipping one day will still advance it to the next cleaning condition in the established sequence.

Why don’t my dirty rooms appear in the Room Assignment page?
This question often comes up for new properties using Visual Matrix PMS. If you mark a room as “Dirty” but it doesn’t appear in the Room Assignment page, this is not an error — it’s how the system is designed.
A room will only display in the Room Assignment list once it has been used at least once — meaning a guest has checked in and checked out of that room. Until that happens, marking it as dirty will not make it appear in the assignment list.
Idea
For new properties, keep in mind that brand-new rooms will not show in Room Assignment until they’ve gone through their first stay cycle.
Why is a housekeeper missing from the list?

A housekeeper will only appear in the list if they have a user account created in Management > User Settings and are assigned to the Housekeeping department. Users who are not assigned to the Housekeeping department will not display on the Room Assign page.
