Enter Credit Card Voice Auth (Desktop)
On VM Desktop PMS, you cannot enter a Voice Auth if your interface is not offline or if the credit card is not declined first.
If you had to get voice authorization because your interface was offline or because of an outage and now you need to enter them in VM, go to the second step below.
After a declined authorization attempt
If you have the credit card or token number (if you are on EMV) with the expiration date, click on Voice Auth and enter the Auth code given by your credit card processor.
Click Authorize and Click OK.
The Auth ID that you find after you clicked on View next to the Expiration date IS NOT an Auth Code.
The Interface was offline and you have voice auth to enter
If you had to get voice auth on clients credit cards because of an outage and now that everything is back you need to enter them in VM, you may not want to attempt an authorization in VM that might go through and create a second auth on the guest credit card. The only way in this case is to turn off manually your credit card interface to get a declined attempt and enter a voice auth.
Open your Device Server with a double click on the computer screen that you will find at the bottom right of the task bar. The icon might be either on the task bar or you may have to open the extension by clicking on the arrow going up.
The Credit Card Interface will show Green.
1. Click on STOP in the list of Actions on the left.
2. Click on the credit card interface.
3. The interface will turn Red.
Then go back to the first step above to enter the voice auth(s) you have.
Make sure you turn your interface back ON (Start) once you have completed your task.
It's crucial to emphasize that the voice authorization is not instantly verified. Even if an arbitrary number is entered during this process, it will confirm the authorization. However, when the batch settlement is conducted, the charge will be declined. This occurs because the authorization code wasn't officially issued by the processor and, as a result, is not recognized during the batch settlement.
