Recognizing and Reporting Suspected Human Trafficking

Recognizing and Reporting Suspected Human Trafficking

If you suspect that you are witnessing human trafficking at your property, it’s important to act quickly and responsibly. While you don’t need to be an expert to help, knowing the appropriate actions can make a significant difference.
Here are a few simple steps you can take.

Do Not Confront the Suspects
Do not attempt to intervene directly or confront the individuals involved. Traffickers may be dangerous, and it’s best to let authorities handle the situation.

Call Authorities Immediately
- National Human Trafficking Hotline (USA): 1-888-373-7888
- Text a Tip: Text "HELP" to 233733
- Local Police: Dial 911 or your local law enforcement number.
Info
These resources are available 24/7 and can guide you on what to do next.

Keep an Eye on Key Signs: Some signs of trafficking may include:
- Guests who seem overly controlled by another individual.
- A person who appears isolated, anxious, or fearful.
- Signs of abuse or neglect.
- A guest who may not have identification or provides inconsistent information.

Document the Incident: Without compromising anyone’s safety, write down any details that may assist authorities:
- Physical descriptions of the individuals involved.
- Vehicle information (license plates, make/model).
- Any suspicious activities or unusual behaviors.

Report Internally: If your property has a protocol in place, notify your management or security team about the situation.
