If a user forgets their password or cannot access MOP, the password can be reset in two ways:
- Using a verification code sent to the user’s phone number (if configured), or
- Assigning a temporary password in the user profile, which forces a reset at next login.
This article explains how to reset a password using a temporary password assigned by management.
Method: Reset Using a Temporary Password
This method requires a Site Admin or authorized manager to update the user’s profile.
Manager Assigns a Temporary Password
A manager must go to: Administration > Identity Management > Users
- Select the user.
- Enter a temporary password in the password field.
- Click Save.
The temporary password remains active only until it is used to log in.
Log In with the Temporary Password
- Go to the MOP login page.
- Enter:
- Username
- Temporary password provided by the manager
- Click Sign In.
- The system will automatically redirect the user to the password reset page.
Confirm Temporary Password
- Enter the temporary password again when prompted. This verifies identity before allowing a new password to be created.
Create a New Password
- Enter a new password.
- Confirm the new password.
Password Requirements:
Must be between 9 and 64 characters
Must include characters from at least three of the following four categories:
Uppercase letters
Lowercase letters
Numbers
Symbols
Using a password generator can help create a secure password that meets these requirements.
Complete the Reset
- Click Continue.
- The password reset is now complete.
- The user can log in normally using the new password.
Alternative Method: Reset via Phone Verification
If the user’s phone number is correctly configured in their profile:
- They may choose the password reset option on the login page.
- A verification code will be sent to their phone.
- After verification, they can create a new password.
If the phone number is missing or incorrect, this method will not work.
