Room Revenue is Tax Exempt but does not show on the Tax Exempt Report
To show in the Tax-Exempt Revenue Report, the Room Charge Revenue has to be posted by the night audit process.
The manual post of the Room Charge tax-exempt (using the RC code within the drop-down menu in a folio), will not result in the Room Charge Revenue showing in the report.
There are two ways for revenue to show in the report:
- It is posted automatically by the system. This is done either during the night audit or auto-posted at check-in - if you have enabled the feature within Visual Matrix to post RC automatically upon check-in.
- It is posted using the Post RM & Tax button. Using the Post RM & Tax button advances the RC post that would normally occur during the night audit. The next audit that is processed will skip posting RC to this folio if the button was used. (see below)
If the tax status changes in the middle of a guest's stay, only the future nights will be counted as tax-exempt in the Tax-Exempt Revenue report.
For a full stay to be tax-exempt, the exemption has to be set up at check-in!
