VM Desktop PMS Remote Access

VM Desktop PMS Remote Access

Discontinuing VM Desktop Remote

Visual Matrix discontinued the VM Remote Desktop application in its entirety due to security risks within Open SSH, the software that facilitates the connection between the remote computer and the hotel's Server. Open SSH is a third-party software, not owned, managed, nor developed by Visual Matrix. We have discovered important security risks within Open SSH recently and prioritize your hotel's safety first and foremost.
As a result of discontinuing VM Remote Desktop, all Remote Desktop users are no longer able to launch Visual Matrix while off-site.
The Remote for VM Desktop has been deactivated completely as of 03/31/2022 for all properties.

Alternatives to VM Desktop Remote

Update to VM Cloud
The most efficient and user-friendly method would be migrating to Visual Matrix Cloud. VM Cloud offers all of the same amazing features that you have within VM Desktop and so much more.

3rd-party Alternatives for VM Desktop Remote
If you're not yet ready to update to VM Cloud and would prefer to operate on Visual Matrix Desktop, there are still a few methods you can take to have remote accessibility.
The remote option that your hotel opts to use will be via third-party applications that Visual Matrix will be unable to support, monitor, or control so be sure that whichever method you take, safety and security are kept in high regard. Please ensure that any remote desktop option you choose is PCI compliant and offers multi-factor authentication. You will need a dedicated station at the hotel that you can use strictly to remote into using your preferred remote method.

Here are some examples of remote desktop software:
- GoToMyPC: A remote desktop software that allows users to access computers remotely using a web browser. It was developed by ExpertCity;
- RemotePC:  A remote access and remote control software application, developed and owned by IDrive Inc. Its core function is in enabling remote access and maintenance to computers and other devices.
Visual Matrix does not endorse or support any third-party remote access tools. We are providing the following list as an example of currently available products on the market only.
