The Service Broker is a critical component that oversees the task completion between two distinct applications. In our context, it facilitates communication between the cloud-based service and interfaces that function through another program. The necessity of the Service Broker varies depending on the type of interface your property employs, whether it's a USB to serial connection or another method.
One of the primary functions of the Service Broker is to handle situations where an application is temporarily shut down or unresponsive. In such cases, the Service Broker takes on the responsibility of storing messages until they can be successfully delivered. It's essential to note that an issue with an interface doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with the service itself, as the Service Broker plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth communication between applications even in challenging circumstances.
1. Open Windows Services. Click on the Windows search and enter Services. Click on the Best Match result that should be Services.
2. Scroll down the list to the "T"'s and look for the service "Visual Matrix Device Server Broker".
3. Check the Broker status. If you only see Start, then the service is stopped. Click on Start.
4. If you see Stop and Restart, the service is running. Clicking on Restart will not harm anything.
In the event that the Service Broker stops unexpectedly, you can establish an automatic restart mechanism known as a "recovery" process. This setup allows the Service Broker to restart automatically without manual intervention, helping to ensure continuous and reliable operation. This recovery mechanism helps minimize downtime and ensures that the Service Broker can resume its essential monitoring and message handling functions promptly after any interruption.
5. Keep the window open and double click on the service "Visual Matrix Device Server Broker" to open it.
6. Click on the "Recovery" tab.
7. Modify the settings as follows:
- Change the status for "First Failure" to "Restart the Service."
- Change the status for "Second Failure" to "Restart the Service."
- Change the status for "Subsequent Failures" to "Restart the Service."
These changes will configure the service to automatically restart after the specified number of failures.
8. First, click "Apply" and then "Ok".
