Create a Peak Date (Cloud)

Visual Matrix offers various rate adjustment options such as auto tiering, manual tiering, peak dates, and RMS (Revenue Management System), which can be used individually or in combination. When multiple options are applied simultaneously, Visual Matrix employs an inherent hierarchy system to determine the prioritized rate. In this hierarchy, the third position is occupied by peak dates, specifically utilized for setting up a distinct rate for a particular day without affecting other days or the overall seasonal configuration.

The Rate Change Hierarchy

Before we dive into setting up a peak date, it’s crucial to understand the rate change hierarchy. The hierarchy works from left to right, with each process on the right having the ability to override those on the left. A peak date is at the third level of the rate change hiearchy, which means that it will override any setup you would have made whether autp-tiering or manual tiering.

Create a Peak Date

1. On the top left, click "Add".

2. Select a date and enter a description (reason).

3. Click Save.

Step 2 continues in the top-right area labeled "Room Types." The "Status" field indicates which rate is currently applied:
- "N/A" means that no tier rates have been set up.
- "System" indicates that the rate is derived from either automatic or manual tiering.

4. Select the room type to apply a peak date and enter the rate in the "Rate" field.

5. If the rate is based on a specific number of guests, enter the expected number of people in the "Guest" field, and input any additional charge for extra guests in the "Addl Amt" field.

6. Click Save.

7. If applicable, set up a specific discount code for this room type and this peak date. For example, a discount code of 10% can be setup at a different percentage for this specific date. Instead of creating another discount code to apply, the discount code can be modified.
Check the box in front of the discount code you wish to change for that date and that room type and enter the new rate for that code for this date: percentage or flat discount or a new Fixed rate (end of the line) if the discount code is an excp/fixed discount code.

8. Click Save.

9. Repeat step 7 and 8 to apply peak discounts to other room types.
