Manual tiering involves manually applying your set tier rates based on your occupancy rate or using auto-tiering and choosing to override the currently applied auto-tier. It offers control, customization, and flexibility in pricing strategies, allowing you to respond to specific market conditions, tailor rates to unique situations, and override automated systems to align with broader business goals. One difference with auto-tiering is that it can only be triggered by the total occupancy rate across all room types, whereas manual tiering can be applied individually to each room type. The Rate Change Hierarchy
Before we delve into using manual tiering, it's important to understand the rate change hierarchy. The hierarchy operates from left to right, with each process on the right capable of overriding those on the left. This means that if you are using both auto-tiering and manual tiering, manual tiering will override auto-tiering.
The Manual Tiering Screen
1. The Manual Tiering screen features a two-week calendar with a row for each room type where you can apply the rate tier.
2. To assist you in deciding which tier rate to apply, the daily occupancy rate for each day is displayed at the bottom, along with any pending group allocations and the number of rooms that are part of group pickups.
3. By default, the calendar starts on the current audit date, but you can adjust it if you want to work on a future date. Additionally, the rates displayed on this page, whether when hovering or selecting a rate tier, correspond to the rate setup for a specific number of people, as configured in the management rate setup section. By default, it is set to 2 persons, but you can change this setting as needed.
4. Just as you can change the start date of the calendar, as explained in the previous step, you can also use the available arrows and double arrows to move forward in time. A single arrow will move the calendar one day backward or forward, while double arrows will shift the calendar by two weeks backward or forward.
5. As explained in Step #2, when you hover over a field, you will see the applicable rate for that date. Whether the field is empty, already has a tier applied, or a peak date is applied, the rate for the number of persons selected will be displayed.
Apply Manual Tiering for One Day
To apply or remove a tier rate, double-click the field, select the tier rate you want to apply (or select "No Manual Tier" to remove the currently applied tier), and confirm your modification by clicking "OK" at the bottom right of the window.
Applying a new tier rate will automatically prompt an update to your channel manager.
Apply Manual Tiering for a Range of Date
1. Click "Apply Range" at the bottom of the screen.
2. Choose the start and end dates for the time frame during which you want to apply the new tier rate.
3. Select the room type(s) to which you want to apply the new tier rate. Use "Assign All" if you wish to apply the new tier rate to all room types for the selected period.
4. Select the tier rate to apply.
5. If you have selected a broad time frame (e.g., several months), you can choose to apply a specific tier only to certain days (e.g., every Friday and Saturday within that period). If so, select the days to which you want to apply the new tier rate. If you want the tier applied to all days, leave all days checked.
6. To ensure the update is saved and triggers a refresh to your channel manager, click "OK" at the bottom right.
