DND: What Is It and How Does It Work? (MOP 2.0)
Do Not Disturb (DND) monitoring helps properties track guest rooms that cannot be serviced due to Do Not Disturb or service refusal statuses. By monitoring consecutive days without room access, MOP helps ensure guest safety, operational awareness, and compliance with brand or city requirements—without disrupting daily housekeeping workflows.
What Is DND in MOP?
In MOP, Do Not Disturb (DND) refers to rooms that cannot be entered because:
- A physical Do Not Disturb sign is displayed, or
- The guest has requested No Service
MOP tracks these rooms to ensure they are not overlooked for extended periods.
Why DND Monitoring Exists
DND monitoring helps properties:
- Identify rooms that have not been accessed for multiple consecutive days
- Support guest well-being and safety checks
- Maintain proper documentation of follow-up actions
How DND Monitoring Works
- A room is marked as DND or No Service during daily operations.
- MOP tracks each consecutive day the room remains in DND status.
- When the room reaches the configured DND day threshold, MOP automatically creates a DND Alert task.
- The alert appears in the Alerts section and can be assigned to a staff member for follow-up.
- Staff complete the alert by documenting the Action Taken.

Ask Yourself:
- Is the room correctly marked as DND or No Service?
- Has the DND threshold been reached?
- Was the DND Alert assigned and completed properly?
- Was the action taken documented clearly?
Support May Ask You:
- What DND threshold is configured for your property?
- Which room triggered the alert and when?
- Was the alert completed or still open?
- Is DND monitoring enabled for your site?
