Ethernet vs Wi-Fi Network Connection

Ethernet vs Wi-Fi Network Connection

Definitions

Ethernet: An Ethernet connection transmits data over cable. It is generally faster than a Wi-Fi connection and provides greater reliability and security.
Wi-Fi: A Wi-Fi connection transmits data via wireless signals. Being on the hotel guest Wi-Fi is not the same as the hotel secure network. None of the hotel's stations should actually be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
How to know if the station is using Wi-Fi or Ethernet: One of the easy ways to know is to look in the taskbar, generally at the bottom of your screen:

Ethernet or Wi-Fi?

For security reasons, your network should always be on Ethernet.
If you are using VM Desktop, all the stations have to be on the same network. If one station, for any reason is on another network (like wi-fi), it will not connect to the server and as a result Visual Matrix will not launch. Meaning VM will not work on that station until its network is resolved to be the same as the server's.
If you are using VM Cloud, you should have enabled IP Security. If enabled, only a connection from the secure network will be able to log in, except if the individual employee has remote access enabled.

How to switch from Wi-Fi to ethernet?
Sometimes, if your ethernet connection has an issue and you have Wi-Fi enabled, Windows will switch automatically to Wi-Fi.
If you left-click on the Wi-Fi icon on the taskbar, it will show you every other available connection. If your Ethernet is there, click on it, it will attempt to reconnect to the selected network.
If your Ethernet works, it is recommended to toggle off your Wi-Fi connection just to avoid any unwanting connection change.

Short way, Turning Wi-FI On or Off
Do a left click on the Wi-Fi icon and then click on the running network.
You should get to the following screen, where you can just turn off the Wi-Fi.

Long way, Network Options
If you right-click on the network icon (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) > Open Network & Internet Settings > Change Adapter Options.
There you will be able to switch networks or check the status of your networks.

If you do encounter any issue, contact your Network provider or IT Tech Support.
