Update the Guest Type List (Cloud)

Update the Guest Type List (Cloud)

Guest Types allow you to categorize guest profiles with labels such as VIP, Member, Corporate, or Do Not Rent. These designations help staff quickly recognize special guest statuses and provide appropriate service when working with reservations and guest profiles. Visual Matrix Cloud allows you to manage the list of Guest Types available in the system. This article explains how to add, remove, or update the Guest Types used in the Guest Profiler.
Path: Sales & Marketing > Guest Profiler > Setup

Instructions

Guest Types are managed from the Guest Profiler Setup screen. Changes made here affect the list of statuses available when editing guest profiles.

1. To create a new Guest Type, click Add, then enter the name in the blank row that appears at the top of the list. To remove a Guest Type, select it and click Remove.

2. Click Save to apply your changes. The updated Guest Types will now be available when editing guest profiles.

Notes
If you update the name of an existing Guest Type, the change will apply to all guest profiles currently using that type.

How Guest Types Are Used

Guest Types define the status assigned to a guest profile. Once created, these types can be selected in the Guest Type field within the Marketing Information section of a guest profile.
Common examples include:
- VIP: Identifies high-value or repeat guests.
- Member: Used for loyalty or membership programs.
- Corporate (CORP): Marks guests associated with corporate accounts.
- Do Not Rent: Flags guests who should not be allowed to stay.
Notes
When a Guest Type is assigned, it becomes visible to staff when the guest profile is used during reservation creation or check-in.

Important Considerations When Updating Guest Types

- Changes made to the Guest Type list affect the entire system.
- Removing a Guest Type will prevent it from being selected for future guest profiles.
- Existing guest profiles that already use that type may need to be updated if the type is removed.
- Renaming or modifying a Guest Type will apply to all profiles currently using that designation.
- Before making changes, confirm that the update reflects how the status should appear across all guest profiles.
