This option works in conjunction with the Thank You letter in the Night Audit Automatic Guest Correspondance settings, where the letter has to be setup first. Instead of waiting to send the letter at check out time, this option will send the letter once check out is completed. 

Path: Management > Setup > Property > Forms

Check the "Automatically Send Thank You" box .
