Flat Tax Settings (Cloud)

Flat Taxes are fixed-dollar taxes that are automatically charged per room, per night. Unlike Revenue Taxes and Sales Taxes, Flat Taxes are not percentage-based and are not assigned to specific accounting codes. Instead, they are automatically posted during Night Audit for every occupied room.

Configure Flat Tax Codes

Flat Tax Codes define fixed-dollar taxes that are charged each night a room is occupied.
Properties may create multiple Flat Tax Codes when required by local regulations.

Account Code
Identifies the Flat Tax Code used for the tax.
The Account Code determines how the Flat Tax is recorded and reported within the PMS.

Flat Tax Amount
Defines the fixed dollar amount charged per room, per night.

How Flat Taxes Are Applied

Flat Taxes are automatically posted during Night Audit.
Unlike Revenue Taxes and Sales Taxes:
  1. Flat Taxes are not percentage-based.
  2. Flat Taxes are not assigned to individual revenue accounting codes.
  3. Flat Taxes apply directly to the room.
  4. Flat Taxes are charged per room, per night.

Multiple Flat Tax Codes

Properties can configure multiple Flat Tax Codes.
When multiple Flat Tax Codes are active, all configured Flat Taxes are applied.

Save Changes

After modifying the Flat Tax settings, click Save at the top of the page to store your changes. Unsaved changes will not be applied to the property configuration.

Flat Taxes vs Fixed Fees

Flat Taxes are always charged per room, per night.
If a property needs charges based on:
  1. Number of adults.
  2. Number of children.
  3. Occupancy levels.
  4. Length of stay.
  5. Other calculation methods.
=> Use Fixed Fees instead.
