Lost & Found Item Log Fields Not Editable After Filing (MOP 2.0)
In MOP, once a Lost & Found item has been filed and stored, certain fields in the Item Log become locked and no longer editable by design. This behavior prevents changes to stored item records after they have been officially logged and secured. The restriction helps maintain accurate tracking and accountability for items stored in the Lost & Found system. Because of this design, users may notice that fields such as Storage Area or other item details cannot be edited once the item has been filed.
Affected Fields
After a Lost & Found item has been filed and stored, the following fields cannot be modified:
- Room Number
- Storage Area
- Item details
The only field that may still be editable is:
- Notes
- Action Taken
- Item Photo
Why This Happens
This behavior is intentional system design. Once an item has been officially filed into the Lost & Found system:
- The item record becomes locked for editing
- This ensures the original storage record remains accurate
- It prevents unauthorized or accidental modifications to logged items
Permissions for Lost & Found management are applied to Storage Areas themselves, not to the Item Storage field inside the item log entry. Because of this structure, changing the storage area directly from the item record is not supported once the item has been filed.
