A Point of Sale (POS) system combines software and hardware to facilitate sales transactions, commonly used in restaurants and retail stores. POS systems cater to specific industries, with features tailored to their needs. Visual Matrix offers an integrated POS system with core features, accessible on any computer with the PMS, reducing setup costs. To use the POS, it must be added to your contract, with two common usage scenarios.
- Pantry/Sundry Shop: Selling pantry items in hotels can be tricky without an expensive POS system. Visual Matrix's integrated POS simplifies this process, enabling quick sales and payments at the front desk, enhancing efficiency and affordability
- Hotel Restaurant or Lounge: Visual Matrix POS is ideal for small hotel restaurants and lounges, offering essential features for ticket management and kitchen orders. It conveniently combines hotel and restaurant totals in a single system, eliminating the need for manual daily postings. However, for larger restaurants, a dedicated POS system may be more suitable.
Each 'POS Station' necessitates a computer with Visual Matrix installed. Besides this, there is no mandatory additional hardware. The choice to procure extra hardware is contingent on individual hotel requirements. Visual Matrix offers the Barcode/ID Scanner for direct purchase, but for other hardware, there are no designated preferred vendors.
- Bar Code Scanner: Visual Matrix offers the VM-1031 ID Scanner for purchase, which can also be used for scanning IDs during reservations. Other barcode scanners are compatible as well. Most scanners include barcode programming sheets. We recommend programming your scanner to insert a TAB via your keyboard after scanning an item and ensure the selected scanner emulates a keyboard for configuring shortcuts and character insertion.
- Receipt Printer: To print receipts using Visual Matrix, you must have an OPOS-compatible 80mm thermal printer. The recommended printer is the Epson TM-T20II Ethernet Plus, which supports Ethernet connectivity. Be sure to select a model that supports Ethernet and matches your hotel's connection requirements, as Ethernet printers can work from any station.
- Cash Drawer: Generally, OPOS and Epson-compatible cash drawers that can be connected to the back of the Epson printer are supported.
