The SkyTab integration allows your POS system to post charges directly to a guest’s Folio in the PMS. This helps streamline operations by removing the need to manually enter charges for restaurant, retail, or other onsite purchases.
How does SkyTab know which guest Folio to charge?
SkyTab looks up the guest’s reservation using their room number. If the guest is currently checked in, the charge can be posted directly to their Folio.
What types of charges can be posted?
SkyTab can post charges to:
- Folio A – Typically used for main room charges
- Folio B – Often used for incidentals (if enabled at your property)
Do guests need to be checked in for the charge to go through?
Yes. The guest must be checked in and assigned to a room. If the guest hasn’t arrived yet or is already checked out, SkyTab won’t be able to post the charge.
Can guests paying with cash have charges posted?
They can—but with conditions:
- The guest must have a deposit on file, or
- Their Folio balance must be below a certain negative limit (e.g. -$50.00). This limit is set per property and can be adjusted in the PMS settings.
What happens if SkyTab uses an accounting code that isn’t set up in the PMS?
The charge will fail. SkyTab can only post charges using accounting codes that are already created and approved in the PMS. Typically, this will be a code like REST.
If you’re setting up the interface, make sure your accounting codes are properly mapped.
What information should my property provide for setup?
Your property will need to share:
- The list of accounting codes that should be mapped for SkyTab charges
- Confirmation that Folio A or B (or both) should be used for posted charges
- The negative balance threshold for cash-paying guests, if applicable
Is this integration available now?
Yes! The SkyTab interface is fully supported and ready to use. If your property uses SkyTab—or plans to—you can take advantage of this built-in functionality today.
