If Visual Matrix isn’t launching or connecting correctly after updating or installing the software on a new computer, the issue may be due to an incorrect device name entered during setup.
This guide walks you through correcting the device name using the Registry Editor on Windows.
Steps to Fix the Device Name

Please proceed with caution when editing the Windows Registry. Only change the fields listed below. Do not modify any other values.
Open the Registry Editor:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type regedit and press Enter.
- If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes.
- Navigate to the following path in the left panel:

HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG
└── SOFTWARE
└── WOW6432Node
└── IMAGE TECHNOLOGY
└── VisualMatrix
└── Data
- Find and update the following entries: DBDataSource and SharePath.
- Edit only the device name (the name of the server or shared computer).
- Leave the rest of the entry untouched.
- Right-click the value and choose Modify, then carefully update the device name.
- Close the Registry Editor.
- Test Visual Matrix to confirm it connects and opens correctly.
