A room type in a hotel is a distinct category of accommodations with shared characteristics, such as size, amenities, and bed configuration. To create room numbers in the PMS, it is necessary to first establish the room types that will be assigned to each room number.
Path: Management > Rooms > Room Type Config
1. Click Add to open a new line.
2. Enter a Room Type. Length is limited to 6 characters.
3. Enter a Description. Length is limited to 30 characters.
4. Select Yes or No to include the room in the Occupancy (rate). The example of a room not included in the occupancy will be Conference, Meeting or Storage rooms tracked.
5. Enter an Overbook Percentage, if applicable. This will only apply to local reservations. It will not be synced with your Channel Manager.
6. Select an Accounting Code. RC(*) is the default code for Guests' Room. Meeting rooms may have separate codes to separate the revenue from those sales.
7. Enter the furniture (beds and/or sofa) that make up the room in the Sofa, Single, Double, Queen, and King fields. Except the sofa column, the other columns will be used to generate the Census report is Management History reports.
8. Enter the Default Guests count. This number will only trigger a warning at the moment of creating the rates for this room type if rates are not entered for that number of guests.
9. Enter the Report Order, if applicable. This affects the order in which the rooms will display in the availability screen and when making a reservation.
10. Check Active to make the room available for setting up rooms.
11. Click the floppy disk to Save the new room type.
