Set Marketing Fields for Third-Party Reservations (Cloud)

Set Marketing Fields for Third-Party Reservations (Cloud)

When reservations are created through an OTA or channel manager, VM Cloud automatically applies marketing fields—Market Segment, Referral Method, and Reason for Stay—based on the mappings defined in your Channel Manager. These ensure reporting accuracy without requiring manual entry, though you can still adjust them from within the reservation if needed.
Idea
Regularly review your Channel Manager mappings to ensure reporting accuracy—especially when new rate plans are added.

Overview

1. How It Works: Each reservation from an OTA or travel agent comes with a rate code, which maps back to specific marketing fields in VM Cloud.
Path: Management > Interfaces > All Interfaces > Channel Manager > Rate Plan Setup (toolbox on the right side).

2. Channel Manager Mapping: In the Channel Manager, each rate code is tied to default marketing fields. When the reservation imports, those fields are automatically applied.
3. Do not forget to Save Changes: Click Save to confirm and apply your updates.

4. Making Adjustments: You can open the reservation in VM Cloud and edit the marketing fields if corrections are needed—for example, if the mapping is outdated or the guest’s actual reason for stay is different.
