This article applies when your property is using Visual Matrix Cloud and does not have signature capture enabled on a pinpad device.
Want a paperless check-in experience using a tablet? Instead of a pinpad, front desk agents can use a tablet to capture guest signatures directly as part of the registration card process. This keeps things smooth for guests, reduces printed forms, and provides a digital authorization record.
Using a tablet lets you maintain a paperless check-in process by capturing guest signatures on registration cards—without a pinpad device. The front desk agent will initiate check-in and display a signature interface on the tablet for the guest.
Unlike a pinpad device, the tablet serves as the sole device used by the front desk agent to both initiate the check-in and display the signature capture interface for the guest.
2. On the front desk, begin the check-in process. When prompted, select the guest’s method of payment.
3. "When asked ‘Bypass Acceptance Terms and Signature’, choose No.
If you click Yes, the signature capture prompt will be skipped, so no signature will be collected.
4. A window will appear above the preset text—this is only for reading the acceptance terms. Ask the guest to click Accept (or OK) to proceed. At this stage, signature capture is not yet enabled.
5. Once the acceptance terms are confirmed, the signature pad appears. Ask the guest to sign directly on the tablet, then click OK to submit the signature.
6. You’ll see a confirmation screen for the signature. Review it briefly, then click OK to finalize.
7. Finish the check-in process by clicking Confirm Check-In (or the equivalent), then click OK on any final prompts.
8. Check-in is now complete. The guest’s signature will be visible on the Registration Card only; it will not appear on the folio or other documents.
