Enabling Text and Push Notifications for a User (Cloud)

Enabling Text and Push Notifications for a User (Cloud)

Text and push notifications allow users to receive system alerts related to housekeeping, maintenance, and management activity. This setup determines which users are eligible to receive notifications, how those notifications are delivered (Push or SMS), and the types of alerts each user will receive.
Notes
This setup only makes users eligible to receive notifications. Notifications must be activated separately in the On-Call section.
Path: Management > User Settings > Security

Instructions

1. Select a user.

2. Choose the notification method:
  1. Push: Sends notifications to the internal messaging system (Dashboard).
  2. SMS: Sends notifications to the user’s phone number. If SMS is selected, the carrier field must be completed

3. Enter the user’s phone number (for SMS).

4. Select which alerts the user will receive:
  1. Maintenance: Alerts when a room is marked out of order with comments
  2. Housekeeping: Alerts when rooms are moved or returned to service
  3. Management: Night audit summary (cash, credit cards, revenue, ADR, occupancy)
Notes
Additional notifications, such as alerts for unsettled credit card batches, are available and covered in a separate article.

5. Click Save.

Important Behavior & Rules

Eligibility vs Activation
This setup determines who can receive notifications, but does not activate them.
On-Call Activation Required
Users must also be activated in the On-Call section to begin receiving notifications.
SMS Delivery Method
Text messages are sent via email-to-SMS and require a valid carrier selection.
Limited SMS Alerts
Some notifications, such as credit card batch alerts, are only sent as push notifications.
Info
Important Clarification
Push notifications and SMS notifications behave differently:
  1. Push notifications appear in the system’s internal messaging area.
  2. SMS notifications are delivered to the user’s phone.
The same alert may not be available in both formats.
