Close Online Inventory (Cloud)
Visual Matrix Cloud automatically manages online inventory by closing room types when they sell out and reopening them when cancellations occur. Operational changes—such as rooms placed Out of Order or private allocations—also update online availability automatically. A hard close is different. It is a manual override used when your property needs to intentionally stop selling a rate plan or room type online outside of the system’s usual automatic controls. This action prevents the system from reopening availability, even if inventory becomes available later, until you manually reopen it.
This article applies to properties not using Rate Levels. Rate Levels allow properties to group several rate codes under one umbrella for inventory control. Properties using Rate Levels should refer instead to Close Online Inventory with Rate Levels.

Closing Online Inventory for a Single Date and Room Type
Use this method when you need to apply a hard close to one specific room type on a single date—ideal for targeted adjustments without affecting additional dates or room types.
1. The Availability screen displays 14 days starting from today. If the date you want to close is not visible, use the date selector to navigate to the correct date.
2. Select the rate plan you want to affect.
3. Click the cell at the intersection of the desired date and room type.
4. Choose Hard, then click OK. The hard close is applied immediately and overrides automatic behavior.
To reopen, repeat the steps and choose Open.
Closing Online Inventory Across Multiple Dates or Room Types
Use this method when you want to apply a hard close to several dates, several room types, or both at the same time—recommended for broader or longer-term availability restrictions.
1. Click Apply Range.
2. Select the date or date range you want to close.
3. Select Close Status.
4. Select the rate plan you want to apply the change to.
5. Select the room type(s) you want to apply the change to.
5. Click OK.
To re-open, follow the same process and choose "Open" for the same date(s).
