Set Up Restrictions with Rate Levels (Cloud)

When your property uses Rate Levels, you can manage availability controls—such as Minimum Length of Stay (MLOS), Cut-Off Time for Arrival (CTA), and Soft Close (or Flexible MLOS)—across grouped rate plans rather than individually. These controls help you protect higher-rate inventory, move guests to targeted rate plans, and influence booking patterns. This guide walks you through the paths and steps to set up these rules for one room type/date or for multiple room types/dates in bulk.
Notes
This article applies to properties using Rate Levels. If your property does not use Rate Levels, refer to the article Set up MLOS/CTA/Soft Close without Rate Levels.
Rate Levels are groupings of rate plans or discount codes that share availability rules. Instead of setting restrictions individually on each rate code, a Rate Level allows you to apply rules such as MLOS, CTA, or Soft Close once and affect all associated codes—helping standardize strategy and reduce administrative effort.
Primary Path (available for all channel managers): Management > Rates > Min Night
Alternare Path (available for all channel managers): Management > Interfaces > All Interfaces > Channel Manager > Availability
Alternate Path (available only for some channel managers): Front Office > Supervisor > System Maint. > Channel Manager > Availability

Set Up a New Restriction for One Room Type on One Date

Use this method when you need to apply a restriction to one specific room type on a single date—ideal for targeted adjustments without affecting additional dates or room types.

1. The Availability screen displays 14 days starting from today. If the date you want to close is not visible, use the date selector to navigate to the correct date.

2. Select the rate level you want to affect.
3. Click the cell at the intersection of the desired date and room type.
4. Choose the Overall line or a specific room type, then click the intersection field for date and room type.
- Choose the rule you wish to apply (MLOS, CTA, or Soft Close).
- For MLOS or Soft Close: enter the number of nights required before booking. A booking attempt that falls short will require the override password.

Info
To cancel the rule and reopen availability: repeat the steps and select Open for the same date.

Set up a New Restriction for Multiple Room Types and/or Multiple Dates in Bulk

Use this method when you want to apply a restriction to multiple dates, room types, or both simultaneously—recommended for broader or longer-term availability restrictions.

1. Click Apply Range at the bottom of the screen.

2. Select the date or date range you want to apply the restriction to.
3. Select the restriction type: MLOS, CTA, or Soft (close). For MLOS or Soft, enter the number of nights required.
4. Choose specific days of the week (Optional). After selecting a date range, you can limit the restriction to certain weekdays.
Example: Select July 1 through August 31, then apply the restriction only on Wednesdays.
5. Choose the Rate Level you want to apply the change to.
      - Selecting Level A allows you to restrict inventory by room type.
      - Selecting any other level limits you to Overall only.
6. Choose the room types to apply the restriction to.
      - Selecting Overall applies the restriction to all room types.
      - Restricting specific room types is available only for Level A.
7. Click OK.
Info
If you need to apply a room-type–specific restriction for Level A, but apply the restriction to all room types for other Levels, you will need to perform the action in two separate steps.

Info
To cancel the rule and reopen availability: repeat the steps and select Open for the same date.
