With Allocation Restrictions, you can apply rules such as Minimum Length of Stay (MLOS), Cut-Off Time for Arrival (CTA), and Soft / Hard Closes to a group’s allocation. These controls help manage how and when rooms are bookable via Member Web, ensuring your group block syncs correctly with online availability.
Path: Front Office > Group > Search > Open the Group
Instructions
1. In the group screen, scroll down to the Room Allocations section.
2. In the allocations area, find the Restrictions panel (or button/link labeled “Restrictions” or “Restrict”).
3. Choose the type of restriction to apply to the selected date(s):
- Soft Close (Flexible MLOS): To pick up this date, the reservation must include a minimum number of nights.
Example: A Soft Close of 4 nights on 01/05 means any booking that includes 01/05 must be at least 4 nights long — for example, 01/04–01/08, 01/02–01/06, or 01/05–01/09.
- Close / Hard Close: The allocation is closed for that date across all rooms and room types. No pick-ups can be made for this date.
- MLOS (Minimum Length of Stay): To include this date in a booking, the stay must be at least the defined number of nights (Functionally similar to a Soft Close, but explicitly labeled as a minimum stay rule.)
- CTA (Closed to Arrivals): No arrivals can start on this date. Guests can still stay through this date if they arrive before it. This rule is typically used to prioritize longer stays.
4. After making changes, click Save or confirm to apply the restriction.
Attempting to create a booking outside of the defined restrictions will require entering the management override password to proceed.
Still Need Help With This Topic?
Ask Yourself:
- Did I modify the correct group record?
- Are the restriction values reasonable and not too restrictive?
- After saving, did I allow time for sync before testing online visibility?
Support May Ask You:
- Which group (ID/name) are you editing?
- What restriction types and values did you enter (MLOS, CTA, thresholds)?
- Did a restriction prevent intended bookings?
- Can you provide a screenshot before and after the restriction settings?
- Are there other settings (drop type, allocations) conflicting with restriction logic?
