FAQ - Housekeeping (MOP 2.0)

These FAQs are designed to help Room Attendants, Supervisors, and Head Housekeepers understand task assignments, room visibility, task status behavior, and best practices for daily housekeeping operations in MOP.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can a Head Housekeeper verify a completed maintenance task?
Yes. As a supervisor, the Head Housekeeper can view all completed tasks in their "My Tasks" section and has the ability to mark maintenance tasks as verified, just as they would for tasks completed by a room attendant.

How does MOP decide between a "Refresh" and a "Full Clean" when receiving rooms or assignments from the PMS?
MOP uses the following logic:
  1. If a guest’s length of stay is exactly 3 days (or a multiple of 3), MOP assigns a Full Clean
  2. On all other days, MOP assigns a Refresh
Info
For properties using OHIP, MOP does not apply the 3-day logic. Instead, it follows the Refresh or Full Clean status provided directly by OHIP.
Can I create Strip tasks for Due Out rooms in MOP?
No, Strip tasks cannot be created for Due Out rooms in MOP. The Strip task option is only available for Checked Out rooms. There is currently no "Due Out Strip" duty in the system.
Why don’t I see the Strip Tasks button in MOP?
The Strip Tasks button appears only once per day. After it is used, it disappears from the user interface. We are currently working on a change that will keep the button visible regardless of how many times it is clicked.
What is the difference between Due Out and Checked Out rooms in MOP for Strip tasks?
Strip tasks are only available for rooms that are marked as Checked Out. Due Out rooms are not included in the Strip task functionality, and there is no option to assign Strip tasks to them.
Why is a room missing from the housekeeper’s list in MOP?
A room may be missing from the housekeeper’s list due to one of the following reasons:
  1. Not Assigned: The room might not be assigned to the housekeeper. Double-check the room assignment in the system.
  2. Room Status Conflict: MOP does not assign “Due Out” rooms for Strip Tasks—only rooms with a “Check Out” status qualify. Review the room’s status in the PMS.
  3. Housekeeper Not On Duty: If the housekeeper isn’t marked as “On Duty,” rooms won’t appear on their list. Make sure their status is updated in the system.
  4. Filter Settings: The app may be filtered to show only certain room types. Check the housekeeper’s filter preferences in the app.
Notes
Don’t forget to refresh the app (by pulling down on the screen) to load the latest updates.
Why does the Housekeeper need to Press “Start” When Cleaning a Room
Pressing Start is critical because it ensures:
  1. Accurate time tracking so cleaning time is recorded correctly.
  2. Reliable performance reporting for fair productivity and average-time metrics.
  3. Real-time visibility so supervisors can see which rooms are in progress.
  4. Proper task status and ownership to ensure the correct user and room are recorded.
  5. Compliance and audit support through verified start and completion timestamps.
Why did a room disappear from my task list?
A room may disappear if:
  1. The task was reassigned
  2. The room status changed in the PMS
Can I work on multiple rooms at the same time?
No, you cannot work on multiple rooms at the same time. Once you press Start on a room, MOP will not allow you to start another room until the current one is Finished or Paused. If you need to step away before completing a room, press Pause, work on another room, then return to the paused room and mark it Finished when complete.

Still Need Help With This Topic?

Ask Yourself:

  2. Is this behavior expected based on PMS logic?
Support May Ask You:
