When a guest checks out, the housekeeping team needs the room to be marked as Dirty so it can be cleaned and prepared for the next arrival. In Visual Matrix Cloud, enabling Set Room Dirty on Check Out tells the system to automatically mark rooms as dirty at the moment of checkout rather than waiting for the nightly audit. This helps prevent rooms from being mistakenly assigned to new arrivals before they are serviced.
Path: Housekeeping > Setup > Time Allotment > Check Out
Without Set Room Dirty on Check Out enabled, rooms are typically marked as Dirty during the nightly audit. For day-use or same-day check-in and check-out reservations, the nightly audit may not yet have run when the guest departs.
In these cases, the room can remain marked as Clean on the Front Office side and may be reassigned to another guest before it has been serviced. Enabling this setting ensures the room is immediately marked as Dirty at checkout, preventing accidental reassignment of unclean rooms.
Instructions
1. In the Check Out section, check the box labeled Set Room Dirty on Check Out.
2. Click the green Save icon (floppy disk) to apply and save the setting.
Once enabled, rooms will automatically be marked as Dirty at the time of checkout — improving housekeeping coordination and reducing the risk of assigning unclean rooms to arriving guests.
